Eastside WILMINGTON

Since 2008, Eastside Wilmington stakeholders have been implementing the Eastside Blueprint Community Strategic Plan to advance affordable housing, access to healthy foods, workforce opportunities, and clean and beautiful streets. HCD joined the revitalization efforts in 2020. With HCD’s support, Central Baptist Community Development Corporation expanded its capacity by appointing a new housing director and workforce development director. Meanwhile, Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County has led initiatives in home repair and beautification. And is facilitating a community-driven planning process to shape the next decade of community revitalization efforts, culminating in the “Eastside 2035: Revitalization Plan.”

Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County

• 160 minor home revitalization services provided: gutter cleanings and repairs, yard maintenance, trash can cover installation, AC/furnace tune-ups, smoke detector installations.
• Community park revitalized.
• 2 community gardens created.
• 8 residents received resident leadership training.

• Workforce development program developed.
• Housing market analysis completed.
• Eastside Career Development Center architectural plan developed.
